Being an entrepreneur means being your own boss, this brings with it numerous opportunities but also many pitfalls. There is no rule book for entrepreneurs to follow, some people see this as a positive thing where as some see it as a negative aspect. The sense of freedom that comes from being your own boss can lead to a few mistake, some of the most common ones you should avoid are:
1) Chasing money instead of freedom:
Being an entrepreneur means being tight on money half the time, especially if you have just started off. This can make you lose sight of the main reason you decided to take this path in the first place. don’t ever let that happen. Train yourself to go after what you actually want and the money will always follow. Achieving what you set out to is what will give you the real sense of freedom not monetary gains.
2) Poor communication:
Proper communication is one of the most important factors for a successful business. If you cant tell your team what is expected from there, where they are going wrong and what a good job they are doing, you will have major issues. Communication is a very complex process as well, it is different for different people. You as an entrepreneur must understand all how you need to put information across to each individual.
3) Go after the wrong success:
Often, people get confused between material items and success and try to buy their way to success and happiness, only to find out that they don’t even want what they were pursuing.
To conquer this trap, make sure to think about and write down what success means in your perfect world. Be conscious about what you are aiming at, and take consistent steps to reach it.
4) No boss/ friend balance:
When you lead a team of people, it is very important that you get off on the right foot. But that doesn’t mean that you let people walk all over you, you must maintain the figure of authority, do whatever you think is best for the business, but still be open to casual communications and advises.
